After much waiting and speculation, the Deadline portal reported that the animated series adaptation inspired by the “Twilight” book franchise is confirmed, with production by Netflix, and the work “Midnight Sun” being chosen for the new version.
As reported by Omelete, Stephenie Meyerauthor of the books, will be involved as an executive producer, alongside Meghan Hibbett and Sinead Daly (Tell Me Lies), who will also be responsible for the script. So far, the production does not have a release date.
In March 2024, when the production of an animation inspired by “Twilight” was confirmed, Michael Burnsvice president of Lionsgate, which is also involved in the project, said that “We are going to approach the Twilight saga as an animation. I think there are a lot of interesting things to explore in that.”
It is worth remembering that, in “Midnight Sun”, the audience follows the events of the main saga through the point of view of Edward Cullen, played in the movies by Robert Pattinsongiving fans the opportunity to learn about their deepest feelings and thoughts, as well as never-before-seen details about the couple and the famous battle of the clans. Released in 2020, the book was the only one in the saga not to receive a film adaptation.
