The Ukrainian Oscar Committee completed the acceptance of applications and announced the list of four films competing for participation in the Academy Award in the Best International Feature Film category.
The Ukrainian Oscar Committee has completed receiving applications for participation in the national selection of a film to be nominated from Ukraine for the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts.
In the category Best International Feature Film Four ribbons will fight for the right to represent Ukraine:
Home word. Endless Romance (taught by Taras Tomenko) – the story of the Ukrainian Executed Revival, which was destroyed by the USSR, and indeed Russia, a generation of Ukrainian writers and culture who lived in the House of Writers in Kharkov in the 1930s.
La Palisade (directed by Philip Sotnichenko) – the events of the film take place in 1996, a few months before the introduction of a moratorium on the death penalty, immersing the audience in the atmosphere of that time.
We are recruits (directed by Lyubomir Levitsky) – the story of a young soldier Boris Savenko, a recruit of the Third Assault Brigade, which reflects his path from mobilization to participation in battles.
Peaceful people (directed by Oksana Karpovich) – a film based on radio interceptions of telephone conversations between the Russian occupiers and their families, which hits home with its daily brutality.
The Ukrainian Oscar Committee will review these films for compliance with the requirements of the American Academy and on September 9 will hold a meeting to determine the candidate from Ukraine.
The film has been reported earlier 20 days in Mariupol Mstislava Chernova won the nomination Best Documentary Feature at the 96th award Oscar.
