Find out what happened to Prince Hans after the events of “Frozen”, a film released in 2013
At the end of “Frozen”, a film released by Disney in 2013, the public was surprised by the revelation that Hans, the prince presented at the beginning of the film as Anna’s first love interest, is, in fact, the great villain of the plot, who wanted to marry the princess just to have the opportunity to secure his own kingdom.
When Elsa accidentally freezes her own sister’s heart, Hans convinces everyone that, before she died, the two had gotten married, and becomes the leader of Arendelle. However, when the spell is undone and his deception is revealed, the villain is arrested and sent back to his homeland, the Southern Isles.
In the second film in the franchise, released in 2019, the prince no longer appears in the plot, leaving many fans curious about what happened to the character after the events of the first film.
What happened to Hans?
The answer is briefly presented in the short film “Frozen: Freezing Fever”, from 2015. The production presents the preparations for Anna’s birthday and, when Elsa decides to blow the horn to honor her sister, she ends up creating a large ball of snow, which flies directly to the Southern Islands.
Upon landing in the region, the ball hits Hans, who appears working collecting horse manure wearing the same costume he was wearing in “Frozen”. Despite this, the short does not present any further explanations about what has happened to the character since then.

Likewise, there is no official information whether, in any of the new films, the villain will be able to make a cameo appearance. In 2023, the current CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Igerconfirmed in an interview with Good Morning America that the third and fourth sequel to “Frozen” are already in development.
“Frozen 3 is in development and perhaps there is a Frozen 4 in development as well. But I don’t have much to say about these films right now. But Jenn Lee, who created Frozen, the original and Frozen 2, is working hard with her team at Disney Animation on not one, but two stories,” said Iger.
