Ten years after the end of ‘Brilliant Victory’, discover some curious facts about the series
With the first season released in 2010, “Brilhante Victória”, presented Tori Vega, character of Victoria Justice who, after replacing her sister in a presentation at the Hollywood art school, has to adapt among the eccentric students of the prestigious institution in order to shine.
With four seasons and 60 episodes, the plot created by Dan Schneider came to an end on Nickelodeon in 2013, so this year the series completes a decade since its last chapter was originally shown on small screens. To remember the legacy of the series, RECREIO has gathered below 5 curiosities you need to know about 5 curiosities about “Brilliant Victoria”.
1. Four seasons weren’t planned
That’s right! The series did not have four seasons planned. What happens is that, in the middle of the third season — to the surprise of fans — the production was canceled on the grounds that it had reached the standard number of chapters for a series on the network: 60 episodes.
That way, Nick decided to split the last season into two. The initial twelve episodes formed season 3, with the title “The Blonde Squad” marking the end of that lead when it was released in June 2012. The remaining episodes became season 4 when it aired between September 2012 and February 2013, as explained by the Screenrant portal.
2. Tori Vega Wasn’t Victoria Justice’s First TV Role
Despite being one of the most outstanding roles of Victoria Justice on TV, Tori Vega did not mark the debut of the actress in series shown on small screens. That’s because, the actress’s career is marked by participation in large series like Gilmore Girls, where she appeared in 2003 and also for being the supporting character of a previous program also written by Schneider“Zoey 101”, where in 2006 she appeared as Lola.
3. Cat was responsible for Ariana Grande’s trademark
Ariana Grande one of her visual landmarks is the iconic ponytail she has worn for years. But, did she know that the hairstyle was only adopted due to his role as Cat in “Victory Bright” and the spin-off “Sam and Cat”? This happens because the actress had to have her hair extremely damaged to hold the character’s look, as she had to bleach her hair and dye it red every two weeks for the first four years, as she explained in a post on Instagram in 2014 (via ENews).
As annoying as it is for you guys to have to look at the same hairstyle all the time, it’s all that works for now (and I’m comfortable for the first time in years) and believe me, it’s even harder for me to have to wait to whenever my natural hair grows back and having to wear more fake hair than all the drag queens in the world put together. So PLEASE give me a break with the hair (or just don’t look at me lol). AFTER ALL IT’S JUST HAIR,” said the singer in the same post while rebutting criticism for always wearing the same hairstyle.
4. Dan Schneider has played the characters he created
Before writing scripts for teen series, Dan Schneider acted in one of them! In 1986 he starred in “Head of the Class”, an ABC sitcom, where the screenwriter gave life to the character Dennis, one of the high school’s academically brilliant and socially disastrous students.
5. Various indications
Over the years, the series has accumulated 4 Emmy nominations, the most important award on TV, three of them in 2012, where it competed in the categories “Best Makeup for a Multicamera Series or Special (Non-Prosthetic)”, “Best Hairstyle for a Series multicamera or special” and “Outstanding Children’s Program”. In 2011, the show earned its first nomination as well as “Outstanding Children’s Program”, but lost to Disney’s “Wizards of Weverly Place”.
Additionally, the show took home two Kids’ Choice Awards trophies after winning the “Favorite TV Show” category in 2012 and 2013.
