The government order normalized questions about monthly surcharges for military personnel, law enforcement officers and rescuers.
The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution regulating the issues of monthly surcharges for defenders of Ukraine. This decision concerns the military, law enforcement and rescuers, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on Telegram on Wednesday, August 9.
“Everyone involved in the defense of Ukraine will receive additional payments for the duration of the war. Today, at an extraordinary meeting of the government, they adopted a resolution regulating the issues of fair monthly additional payments for military personnel, law enforcement officers. and rescuers,” he wrote.
According to Shmygal, during the martial law, the cost of additional payments will be UAH 30,000 per month.
“For people who exercise control over the operation of military units and subunits at a distance, surcharges can reach 50,000 hryvnias. And for those directly involved in the conflict – 100,000 hryvnias,” he added.
Also, according to the head of government, the monthly surcharges for conscripts and cadets are set at the amount of 6,000 Hryvnia and 2,350 Hryvnia, respectively.
As you know, after the start of the war in Ukraine, an additional financial reward was paid to the military, which did not participate in hostilities, in the amount of 30,000 hryvnias. But from February 1, 2023, these monthly payments have been cancelled.
In early April, the Verkhovna Rada voted to restore additional military payments in the amount of 30,000 hryvnias. However, later a resolution was submitted to Parliament preventing the return of the surcharges.
And only on July 28, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on additional military payments, and on June 30, the document was signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky.
