Disney+ Announces Release of Documentary About Ed Sheeran

The docuseries “Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All” premieres on May 3

Disney+ announced this week the release of the original four-episode docuseries, “Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All.” In the series, Emmy Award-winning producers take audiences on a journey around the world showing how a stuttering boy unexpectedly rose to fame, becoming one of the world’s biggest stars, and how his extraordinary successes were born. The production is set to premiere on May 3.

For the first time, Ed opens the door to showing his private life in an honest and profound way, while exploring the universal themes that inspire his music. The production accompanies Sheeran shortly after the discovery of news that changed his life, revealing the artist’s struggles and triumphs during the most difficult period he lived.

“In this docuseries, we reveal a side of Ed Sheeran that fans have never seen,” said Ayo Davis, President, Disney Branded Television. “In partnership with Fulwell 73, we have created something truly authentic and personal that will not only entertain audiences, but will also inspire viewers to dream big and do what they love.”

Combining never-before-seen archival footage, current topics, authentic interviews with his wife and loved ones, and intimate performances in cinematic locations, the docuseries widens the lens to show what Ed thinks of the world, himself and his music, as well as presenting the hits his fans have enjoyed for a decade.

“I have always been very protective of my personal and private life. The only documentary I ever made was about my songwriting,” said Sheeran. “Disney approached me to do a four-episode docuseries and I felt the time was right to open the doors and let people in. I hope everyone likes it”.

Her fifth studio album “-” (“SUBTRACT”) is due for release on May 5th via Atlantic Records in the US, Atlantic/Asylum Records in the UK and Atlantic/Warner Music elsewhere. His new single “Eyes Closed” will be released this Friday, March 24th.
