In the past, the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline was only used to supply Russian gas to the Balkans.

For the first time, Moldova imported natural gas through the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline in a test mode in the opposite direction – from south to north. This was reported the previous day by the local edition of NewsMaker, citing Energocom.

It was indicated that 4.3 million cubic meters of gas were imported in test mode through the Trans-Balkan pipeline in the opposite direction.

“Before, the Trans-Balkan corridor only worked from north to south, but now for the first time it is possible to deliver non-Russian gas in the opposite direction,” the report said.

According to and.about. Director of Energocom Vadim Brynzan, there are several potential sources of gas supply.

“Energocom had to build bridges and contacts with as many European companies as possible so that Moldova is 100% supplied with natural gas and electricity,” he added.

Recall that in early November, Moldova for the first time in history used the reverse for importing gas from west to east. The resource is imported through the Budniki delivery point in Slovakia on the border with Ukraine.
