The attack used encrypted requests (HTTPS) because they require additional computing resources.
In June of this year, the American public multinational corporation Google was subjected to a series of HTTPS DDoS attacks, which reached 46 million requests per second. This is the largest Level 7 attack recorded to date. This was reported by the company’s press service.
It was noted that the cyber attack began around 09:45 local time with ten thousand requests per second, after eight minutes the attack increased to 100,000, and after that one reached its maximum. The number of requests was 76% higher than during the previous Cloudflare attack.
Cloud Armor’s adaptive protection detects the attack and generates an alert containing the attack’s signature by analyzing traffic based on dozens of attributes and characteristics. Over the next few minutes, the size of the attack began to decrease, eventually ending after 69 minutes at 10:54 am.
The attack involved 5,256 IP addresses from 132 countries.
It was previously reported that a Russian citizen was extradited from the Netherlands to the United States, suspected of cybercrime.
