Sweden exported 16 TWh in the first half of the year. At the same time, the majority of Swedish electricity went to Finland (7 TWh) and Denmark (4 TWh).
It is indicated that usually France ranks first in Europe in terms of electricity exports. But this year, structural problems in its nuclear sector meant that France had to get large amounts of electricity from other countries and became an importer.
Germany was the second largest net exporter during this period with 15.4 TWh, double the level of the previous half of 2021. Bulgaria was in third place with 6.6 TWh.
However, Italy remained the largest net importer in the first six months of 2022, receiving 22 TWh from outside the country, of which 9.6 TWh came from Switzerland and 6.7 TWh from France.
Recall that Ukraine earned more than 720 million Hryvnia in the first month of exporting electricity to the European Union.
And at the end of July, the EU allowed to increase the export of electricity from Ukraine to Europe by two and a half times.
