About 9 out of every 10 Peruvians working in Central macroregion are in a situation of informal employment, indicates an analysis by the National Society of Industry (SNI).
The Union warns that, on average, regions such as Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Huanuco, Ica, Junin and Pasco they represent informal employment at 85.1%, higher than the national average of 76.8%.
Of this group, the region with the highest level of informality is Huancavelica, as 94.8% of its workers are informal.
They are followed by Huanuco and Ayacucho with level i.informality 89.9% and 88.8% respectively.
Meanwhile, Pasco has an informality rate of 85.5%, Junin has 85.3% and Ica has the lowest rate with 69.1% informal workers.
The more informality, the more poverty
Levels of informality are directly related to poverty, SNI warns, specifying that Pasco and Huancavelica are not only highly informal, but also poor.
“Pasco and Huancavelica they represent poverty rates of 42.1% and 41.2% respectively. This is a reality that we cannot tolerate,” said SNI President Jesús Salazar Nishi.
In the Central Macroregion alone, the SNI estimates the poverty rate at 28.8%, which is higher than the 25.9% registered at the national level.
This, they point out, also manifests itself in the difference in wage which are perceived informally.
“For example, in Junin in 2021, a formal worker earned an average of S$2,572 per month; while unofficial received S/823 during the same period. In the case of Huancavelica, the gap more than doubled because while the formal worker was earning S$2,236, the monthly income of the informal worker is S$658,” commented Salazar Nishi.
Another problem they see in these regions is paralysis. games for infrastructure development.
SNI indicates that the main projects in this area are US$10,113 million, with the main project to be developed being the Carretera Central Cuatro Carriles.
“It is very important that this work be done, since the current Central Highway has completely lost its capacity, and the new road will allow us to achieve greater connectivity and facilitate trade between macro-regions with the center of the country,” he said.
In total, it is estimated that there are about 528 paralyzed jobs in the country. regions mentioned, which require the promotion of investment in infrastructure, technology, the formation of production chains and public procurement.
