The 22% price increase is due to the fact that retail chains started stocking up for the New Year holidays.
Selling prices of potatoes this week in Ukraine increased by 22%. EastFruit wrote this on Friday, December 13.
Against the backdrop of increased demand before the holidays, farmers are offering prices for potatoes in the range of 22-30 UAH/kg.
The increase in prices is due to the fact that wholesale companies and retail chains have increased interest in potatoes, as they are already building stocks for the New Year holidays.
Currently, potatoes in Ukraine are sold on average 85% more expensive than the same period last year. This significant price increase is due to the decrease in potato production in the country.
Remind us that the lack of vegetable storage facilities leads to the loss of 60% of vegetables in Ukraine.
