The new institution is expected to be simpler, more efficient, less bureaucratic and cheaper.
The Argentine government announced the dissolution of the Federal Administration of Public Revenue and its replacement by a new “simplified” body – the Agency for Tax Collection and Customs Control. This was stated in a statement by the Office of the President of Argentina on the social network X.
“The Office of the President reports that as part of the reduction of government structures and the elimination of ineffective bodies, the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP) will be dissolved,” the statement said.
The new institution, according to plans, will be simpler, more efficient, less bureaucratic and cheaper.
A reduction of 45% of management positions and 31% of junior officials is expected, which means the elimination of 34% of the existing structure. This should reduce Argentina’s costs by 6.4 billion pesos (about $6.5 million).
The salary of the head of the institution will be cut from 32 million pesos to the level of the minister’s salary (about 4 million pesos). Directors’ salaries will also be cut significantly.
Let’s remember that in June the Argentine parliament supported the package of economic reforms proposed by President Javier Miley. Miley called his legislative initiative “the best financial changes in the history not only of Argentina, but of all humanity.”
