Lithuanian law enforcement officials have confined 11 company employees from Kaunas, including managers, employees and drivers, citizens of Moldova and Bulgaria. These actions took place as part of an operation to terminate the “particularly daring procedure for avoiding international sanctions against Russia.” This information on Saturday, August 23, reported by Euronews with a reference to the Lithuanian Customs Department of Customs Department.
The investigation founded that the company had developed a complex shadow scheme for providing equipment for water purification in Russia. This equipment was developed and made from components made in the EU and China, and it was used by businesses in the Russian oil industry. Officially, the company’s products were obtained by the customer in Portugal, but in fact, the shipment moved through Bulgaria to Turkey, from which it came to Russia.
According to the criminal service, the Kaunas company has established connections to Russian businesses and actively participated in the implementation of Russian projects. One of these projects is associated with a group of petrochemical companies related to the most changing -new in the world in terms of development.
During searches, tonnes of equipment with a total amount of almost 2 million euros were seized. Two trucks with this equipment are also confined: one in Kaunas, the other on the road to the Lithuanian -Polish border. The third load was blocked in Bulgaria.
