According to the concessionaire, from Sunday, February 26, toll rates will be updated on Via de Evitamiento and on the Linea-Amarilla expressway.
The exchange rate will rise from S/6.30 to S/6.60 in light vehiclesup 4.76% due to inflation.
“Funds collected from infrastructure fees are administered by the trust, which is responsible for paying for the construction, operation and maintenance of the concessioned expressways, including private investment funding of more than S/3.200 million already secured as of early 2018,” they point out.
This usage fee infrastructure it is updated every year, but this is not the only hike this year.
What other duties have increased this 2023?
In early 2023, five road concessions announced toll rate increases to 6%.
Below is a list of routes for which fares will be increased light vehicles:
– The Paita-Yurimaguas highway operated by the concessionaire Iirsa Norte: its rate for passenger cars is increased from 8.20 to 8.70 c/, i.e. by 6%.
– Carretera Central, run by Deviandes: upgraded from S/7.60 to S/7.90, up 4%.
– Inambari-Inyapari route, on the Southern Interoceanic Highway Section 3: the cost increases from S/8 to S/8.4, an increase of 5%.
– Vía Azángaro-Puente Inambari operated by Intersur Concesiones: the rate is increased from 7.7s to 8s, which is 4%.
– The Urcos route in Cusco to Iñapari in Madre de Dios, operated by Interamericana Sur Concessionaire: its rate is increased from S/8 to S/8.4, i.e. by 5%.
Why do we have to pay a fee?
Tolls are payments we make to have the right to pass through a certain place, such as freewaysbridges, tunnels, etc.
Its purpose, in the case of highway tolls, is to raise money for road maintenance such as cleaning, bridge repairs, resurfacing, and attention to roadside emergencies.
The concessions consist in giving them some part freeways to private companies that are in charge of kiosk management, road management and maintenance, which implies what we mentioned earlier.
