Peru 5 out of 10 Peruvians study and workaccording to job portal analysis boomerang. The desire to earn more money, have work experience, or achieve financial independence are some of the reasons that motivate them to strive for it.

Justo Zaragoza, Director Association for Education for the Futureexplained that this need to combine both activities has led to an increase in the number of virtual careers, mainly due to private universities and instituteswhich absorb 70% of demand.

“Universities have adapted to this system so that many of the working young people can access programs for working people, and this, on the one hand, increases the wages of those who study, but also increases productivity,” he said.

According to the representative, over the past 20 years, “ economy in Peru it has grown five times, and this, of course, was accompanied by the graduation of specialists and technicians from the university, but basically the state university has not changed, private universities and institutes have grown.”

Why is it important to have a higher education?

According to INEI, the number of Peruvians who have graduated from high school is greater than the total number of citizens with higher education. The difference between the two groups is observed in wages. Who graduated college or a non-university might double the income of another person who graduated from high school only.

What alternatives can we use to generate more income?

According to the Education for the Future Association, the average pension costs S$600 and up. These costs are often beyond the reach of students, especially those under 24 whose income, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Information Technology (INEI), rarely exceeds S$1,500.

María Laura Cuya, professor of finance at Pacíficos Business School, stated that the student can use their free time to generate economic income. This alternative will also allow them to gain work experience and strengthen skills such as teamwork and customer service.

“You can look for jobs online, you can manage your social media accounts or community managers, you can write, you can take pictures, you can design. Another point is part-time jobs that suddenly don’t interest you now, but they help you in future studies and, as a student, they add to you, because you lived this experience and earned it, ”he clarified.

However, we must learn to organize our finances and reduce unnecessary expenses so that there is enough income, said Maria Ramos Cavero, Accounting and Finance Coordinator at Universidad Privada del Norte.

“You can cut costs if you manage your time better; For example, cook your own meals instead of eating out, consider cycling to work or school, and if you have debts in different banks, combine them all into one, finally, think about a reserve from 20 to 30% of your income, which you can manage through various methods offered by financial institutions,” he emphasized.
