The United States has sent the first batch of equipment to Ukraine to meet energy infrastructure needs for a total of $13 million, Reuters reported on Tuesday, December 13, citing unnamed US officials.
Assistance includes transformers, switching units and cables needed to restore power supply, and other equipment.
A source familiar with the situation said two more aircraft with this equipment will fly out of America this week.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told The Wall Street Journal WSJ CEO Summit that the country is working with the G7, the European Union, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to help Ukraine rebuild its its energy infrastructure.
Earlier it was reported that the US authorities will finance the purchase of power grid equipment for the restoration of the Ukrainian energy system for $53 million.
It is indicated that these funds will be allocated in addition to the $55 million already provided, directed to emergency support for Ukraine’s energy sector.
