The Ukrainian energy sector, such as it was before the full-scale invasion, cannot be restored now.
Therefore, stabilization shutdowns will continue in the cities, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in an evening address to the nation on December 7.
Most power outages in Kyiv and the region, Lviv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnitsky, Poltava, Vinnitsa and Transcarpathia.
In Ukraine, about 50% of generating capacities are damaged: Ukraine will pass the winter period with schedules for limiting electricity consumption.
As a result of rocket attacks on December 5, there are significant damages in the energy systems of certain regions.
In total, the Russian aggressor fired more than 1,000 missiles and shells at Ukrainian energy facilities, as a result of which the energy system suffered great damage, but retains its integrity.
The shortage of electricity, which is observed in the energy system due to its damage as a result of shelling by the Russian aggressor, will last until the end of March-mid-April, so Ukraine will pass the autumn-winter period with consumption limitation schedules.
The situation in the regions
On the night of December 8, DTEK together with Ukrenergo will start supplying electricity to the residents of Odessa. Residents are asked to turn off all appliances from sockets if they currently do not have electricity at home.
When the light turns on, the devices must turn on one by one so as not to overload the networks. The situation is still quite complicated, so emergency blackouts will continue in Odessa and the region.
In Kyiv, balance holders of 454 houses located on the same line with critical infrastructure will independently turn off within emergency or stabilization schedules.
These houses will be turned off by their own balance holders – power engineers of the housing construction cooperative and management companies. Such an independent blackout will reduce the number and duration of blackouts for all Kiev residents.
The situation with the power supply of the Ukrainian capital is improving, but problems remain on the left bank of the Dnieper, where one of the generation facilities still cannot return to work.
The possible maximum consumption in Kyiv increased by 7% compared to yesterday. Approximately 70% of the needs of residential buildings are now provided, but emergency shutdowns are still in effect. Separately, I remember the left-bank Kyiv. Here, residential customers receive only up to 30% of the needs, since one of the utility generation facilities is still being renovated. And the networks of other generation sources are overloaded and cannot transfer enough energy to the left-bank regions. Unfortunately, we do not know the terms of restoration yet, – Sergey Kovalenko, the general director of Yasno power supply company, said.
If there was a victory now, how soon would the energy be restored?
If we imagine that we won today and continue to restore the system, somewhere in 2 weeks all consumers would live in a calm outage schedule. That is, they were excluded for about 4 hours a day, the rest of the time there is electricity, – said Alexander Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center.
Somewhere else in 2.5-3 months, most likely, blackouts would be a thing of the past – everyone received electricity around the clock, as it was before the war.
But it will take us 2.5-3 years to fully restore the system to the state it was in before the war, in order to really reliably reserve, restore, qualitatively, modernly, taking into account the fact that we want to have a more energy efficient and “green” system. , – Kharchenko suggested.
