Georgia GOP Senate candidate Herschel Walker threw down the gauntlet this week when he challenged MSNBC’s Joy Reid to a debate after she mocked his “fresh” gaffe on Fox News.
Reid agreed to his live show on Wednesday, telling Walker he could appear on “The ReidOut” any day. But Walker has yet to publicly respond to the invitation.
The exchange began Tuesday when Walker, endorsed by Donald Trump, who faces Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) in the Dec. 6 primary, said “this crap” instead of “this election” during an appearance on Fox’s side-by-side of Senators Ted Cruz. (R-Texas) and Lindsey Graham (R.C.).
“Ancestors cry,” Reid tweeted. “And why does he always need these managers (who can’t even stop him from embarrassing himself.) Just humiliating.”
The next day, Walker said he would like to discuss Reid.
“I say, any day of the week you want to talk, you can come here and I’ll talk about any topic,” she said in an interview shared online. “He can come up with the subject and let’s do it.”
Reid agreed to his performance later Wednesday.
After all, she has a lot going on with the ex-football star — from allegations that he fathered secret children, to pressuring ex-partners to have abortions, to winning a tax break on his Texas home.
“Okay, Herschel, come on,” he said. “No, seriously. I’ve contacted your team. We’ll have you on ‘ReidOut’ any day now. And we can talk. Just tell us when.”
Reid had one condition, though.
Walker needs to debate “on his own” and not alongside national Republicans like Cruz and Graham, as he has done in the past.
On Thursday, Walker tweeted a Thanksgiving message. However, he does not appear to have commented on Reid’s offer.
