China’s representative, after another Russian missile attack on Ukraine, called on the parties to urgently sit at the negotiating table.
China, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, again called on Ukraine and Russia to “start peace talks as soon as possible.” This was announced on Wednesday, November 23, by China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Geng Shuang.
According to him, this is the only way to “avoid the escalation” of the war.
“Dialogue and negotiation is the only way forward. The parties should start direct contact and return to diplomatic negotiations as soon as possible,” Geng Shuang said.
He added that the international community should facilitate the initiation of a dialogue to avoid a nuclear crisis.
“We once again call on the parties to exercise restraint so that their actions do not escalate the confrontation, and also to prevent this confrontation from getting out of hand,” the PRC representative said.
It should be noted that the United States believes that the Russian Federation’s targeted rocket attacks on critical Ukrainian infrastructure facilities are a shameful escalation of the war.
Recall that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke at a meeting of the UN Security Council. He called on the organization to condemn Russian missile attacks on our country’s energy infrastructure and called them “crimes against humanity.”
