Ukrainians were encouraged to stock up on warm clothes, blankets, and consider options that would help them wait out the long blackout.
Ukraine will live in conditions of regular power outages until the end of March. This was announced on Monday, November 21, by Sergey Kovalenko, CEO of energy supplier YASNO, on Facebook.
“Today we again have various losses: we started with a stabilization schedule, but in the afternoon we received new restrictions from Ukrenergo and we are immediately turned off. The maximum restrictions for the day it was 391 MW, more than 953,000 customers were turned off.
The electrical engineers, despite the bad weather, are now trying their best to complete the recovery before the colder weather. And although now there are fewer blackouts, I want everyone to understand that Ukrainians are likely to live in blackout mode until the end of March at least,” he wrote.
He also noted that it is difficult to predict events, but explained that further several scenarios in the energy sector of Ukraine can be considered.
“If there are no new attacks on the electricity grid, then under the current conditions of electricity generation, the lack of electricity can be distributed evenly throughout the country. This means that blackouts will be everywhere of the place, but not so long,” he said.
Kovalenko admitted that if there are no new attacks and the previous level of generation is restored, then it is possible to reject all closures.
At the same time, he did not exclude a negative scenario for the development of events.
“In the event that the network is damaged as a result of attacks, it will be necessary to use not only hourly stabilization shutdowns, but also emergency shutdowns, where “there may be no power for a very long time,” Kovalenko admitted. .
“I think you should be prepared with different options, even for the worst. Store warm clothes, blankets, think of options that will help you wait for a long loss. More it’s better to do it now than to complain and blame someone later. Besides, we all know who’s really at fault, I’m sure we can handle it!” he added.
