The changes would make any possible loss of these drones to their sensitive technologies less dangerous.
The US administration and military leadership are investigating the possibility of transferring modified modern Gray Eagle drones to Ukraine, where sensitive technology and components will be removed. This was reported by CNN on Monday, November 14, citing two administration officials and the US Congress.
“The United States is considering how to modify the deadly drone. Changes that could make any possible loss of these drones in their sensitive technology less dangerous could increase the likelihood of Ukraine receiving them, ” said the officials.
In particular, the possibility of making changes to technical settings and removal of individual components is considered. “However, these things take time and are quite complicated,” said one of the interlocutors.
Another official confirmed that the US Army is investigating the possibility of making changes to the design of the drone made by General Atomics, codenamed MQ-1C Gray Eagle.
“When it comes to drones, they are the best you can get. They are truly exceptional drones,” said Seth Jones, director of the international security program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
Remember, last week it was reported that US authorities refused to provide Ukraine with Gray Eagle MQ-1C reconnaissance and strike drones.
Meanwhile, on November 4, the United States announced $400 million in military aid to Ukraine. This package includes 1,100 Phoenix Ghost drones, which drop ammunition.
