The introduction of a visa regime for citizens of the Russian Federation is largely supported by opposition supporters.
Two-thirds of Georgians believe the country should introduce a visa regime for citizens of the Russian Federation. On Thursday, April 21, Echo of the Caucasus writes in relation to data from a sociological survey conducted by the US National Democratic Institute (NDI).
Thus, according to the survey, 66% of respondents believe that Georgia should introduce a visa regime for citizens of the Russian Federation. Only 23% hold the opposite opinion.
Another 12% of respondents did not know the answer to this question.
At the same time, the introduction of a visa regime for Russians is largely supported by opposition supporters. Among them, 75% support the return of the visa regime, 19% oppose.
At the same time, among those surveyed who support the ruling Georgian Dream party, 49% are in favor of restrictions on Russians, while 34% are against such a move.
Recall that Georgia unilaterally abolished the visa regime for Russians in 2012. The country’s authorities explained this step by the need to “promote the development of tourism.”
It was previously reported that the Georgian authorities would not open a “second front” against Russia.
