The Kremlin’s rejection of the Easter truce showed a genuine attitude to the Christian faith, the president stressed.
Russia has rejected the proposal to establish an Easter truce. This was announced on Thursday, April 21, in a video message by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
The head of state stressed that this was a good reflection of the Kremlin’s true attitude towards Christianity.
“Unfortunately, Russia rejected the proposal to establish an Easter truce. It shows very well how the leaders of this state are actually associated with the Christian faith, one of the most fun and important holidays, “said Zelensky.
At the same time, the head of state noted that Ukrainians keep hope.
“Hope for peace, hope that life will succeed in death,” the president said.
Earlier the Russian Federation did not intend to observe a ceasefire for the holiday, said Ukraine’s permanent representative to the UN Serhiy Kyslitsa.
It will be recalled that Guterres proposed to declare a ceasefire in Ukraine from April 21 to 24 to organize the evacuation of civilians from war zones and deliver humanitarian supplies.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs supported the UN Secretary General’s initiative in a four -day humanitarian pause.
