Russian war criminals used ammunition prohibited by international law, the National Guard said.

The Russian occupiers on Thursday, October 21, again fired on the civilian population of Bakhmut, Donetsk region, with cluster munitions from the Grad multiple launch rocket system. The National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) reported this on Facebook.

Citizens who suffered from the shooting were given medical care at home by the NSU rapid response brigade. After that, the wounded were evacuated to a medical facility.

The situation in the city is critical due to continued enemy attacks, the National Guard said.

“Cluster munition shelling of cities where the local population lives is a war crime and Russian troops and mercenaries occupying positions in this direction will be punished for it,” the National Guardsmen said in a statement.

It will be recalled that the ISW said that the Russians lied about the offensive in the Bakhmut region in order to portray at least small victories against the backdrop of ongoing losses in the northeast and south of Ukraine.
