Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya fled before a speech by his Ukrainian counterpart Sergei Kislytsya.
Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya left the UN Security Council meeting room to “not hear the speech of the Permanent Representative of Ukraine Serhiy Kislytsya.” The news agency Ukrinform reported this on Saturday, October 22.
“I regret that the Security Council is still forced to listen to this speaker, because all he has done in almost eight months of invasion is lie after lie. In every meeting. Every aspect of the war of aggression ordered by his master in February ,” – said the representative of Ukraine.
He also reacted to the flight of Nebenzi and, in particular, expressed the hope that soon the Russian Federation will no longer be in the UN Security Council, where it illegally replaced the USSR as a permanent member of this body .
Kislytsya also quoted the Russian envoy as saying “the purpose of Russia’s special military operation is not to occupy Ukraine or harm the local population” and that “it does not affect critical civilian infrastructure.”
The Ukrainian permanent representative said that since February 24, damage or destruction of 51,412 civilian infrastructure facilities in Ukraine has been recorded.
The diplomat also recalled that since October 10, there have been about 300 missile attacks and drone attacks on energy facilities and other civilian infrastructure in several areas.
The actions of the Kremlin regime, according to international law, are terrorism, Kislytsya insisted.
According to him, it is not surprising that Putin chose the new commander of his army in Ukraine, Sergei Surovikin, who has a criminal record and is also known for “his bloodthirstiness and criminal nature.”
He added that Russian terrorists were preparing the ground for a large-scale disaster in southern Ukraine, mining the dam and the units of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. This could leave Zaporozhye NPP without water for cooling.
The world must respond early to avoid such a disaster, Kislitsa summarized.
Recall that Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council at a meeting on Friday, vetoed the resolution S / 2022/720 condemning the so-called pseudo-referendum in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and demanding withdrawal of Russian troops.
