This will enable people to better understand the law and will be key to a functioning democracy.

The New Zealand Parliament approved the so-called Plain Language Bill on October 19 after three readings. We are talking about banning the use of complex legal language and highly specialized vocabulary in law and all official government documents. This was reported by The Guardian.

The Plain Language Act is expected to allow people to better understand the law and be key to a functioning democracy, as the public can control the speech of officials.

“People living in New Zealand have the right to understand what the government is asking of them, what their rights are and what they are entitled to from the government,” said MP Rachel Boyak, the author of the proposal law

While the Green, Labor and Maori parties (Natives of New Zealand – Ed.) The bill was supported in parliament, the opposition criticized it.
