US F-35 fighter jet crashes

The plane crash happened the night before Hill Air Force Base, near Salt Lake City.

In the US state of Utah, the fifth generation F-35 A Lightning II fighter crashed. The 388th Fighter Wing of the US Air Force reported it to Twitter on Thursday, 20 October.

The incident is said to have taken place last night at Hill Air Force Base. The plane crashed at the north end of the runway, near the state capital of Salt Lake City. Rescue teams immediately went to the scene after the incident.

The pilot managed to get off and was feeling good. He is under observation at the local medical center.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated. An investigation is underway.
