The new commander of the Russian army in Ukraine, Sergei Surovikin, does not exclude the adoption of “difficult decisions” regarding the upcoming arrival of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the occupied Kherson.
The Western press predicted the liberation of Kherson by the Ukrainian army this week. And now the conquerors themselves are beginning to prepare the ground for retreat.
“Organized migration”
Gauleiter of the occupied part of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo announced the “organized migration of the civilian population” of part of the population from the right bank of the occupied Kherson region to the left.
Saldo said that “the Ukrainian side is gathering forces for a massive offensive” against Kherson. Also, according to him, “there is an immediate danger of flooding the territories related to the planned destruction of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and the release of water from the cascade of power plants above the Dnieper.”
“In such a situation, I made a difficult but correct decision to announce the organized movement of the civilian population of the municipalities of Berislav, Belozersky, Snigirevsky and Aleksandrovsky on the left bank of the Dnieper. This decision caused the creation of large-scale defensive fortifications so that any attack is repelled. Where the military “There is no place for civilians. Let the Russian army do its job. Under these conditions, our main task is to save human life and allow the troops of the Russian Federation to effectively perform their duties in protecting the Kherson region. We will bring the civilian population to the left bank in an organized, gradual way, “- said the representative of the occupiers.
Express the “difficult decision”
Almost simultaneously with Saldo’s report, a statement was made by the commander of the Russian group, Sergei Surovikin, who, speaking about the situation around Kherson, did not rule out the possibility of making “difficult decisions.”
“Further actions related to Kherson depend on the evolving military-tactical situation, it is not easy, difficult decisions are not ruled out,” Surovikin said.
He also reported about the alleged preparation of a missile attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Kherson and the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, and that, allegedly, the population would be “evacuated” from the city.
“We will proceed from the need to protect the lives of the civilian population and our soldiers as much as possible,” Surovikin said.
Surovikin admitted that the situation was tense – the Ukrainian army was destroying his defenses.
When we entered Kherson
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, believes that by the end of the year the Ukrainian defenders will continue significantly, according to him, “significant success” awaits Ukraine.
“Until the end of the year, we will still make significant progress, it will be significant victories, you will see it soon … I hope it can be Kherson,” said Budanov.
“Their bridge on the right bank is completely unprofitable from a military point of view, as they are completely under the defeat of our artillery. Moreover, they rely on only two bridges for supplies and are constantly forced to build crossings.
That is, they had to retreat to the left bank and gain a foothold there, or advance further. But they don’t have the strength to attack, and they don’t want to go out,” people’s representative Roman Kostenko commented on the situation in the South. –
Now the Russians can pass vehicles on the Dnieper only on two bridges – Antonovsky and Novokakhovskaya dams.
“The Antonovsky bridge, according to our information, is used in a limited way, it is absolutely impossible for them to transfer anything. And they restored the Novokakhovskaya dam, there is also not the same capacity as before, but they can bring down the reserves , military equipment and so on here,” said Kostenko.
