The politician urged to look at those who, after going abroad, “have acted to the detriment of the state and people.”
Alexander Lukashenko proposed to consider the issue of the removal of oppositionists who left the country of Belarusian citizenship. He stated this on September 6 at a meeting on improving the law on citizenship and amnesty, BelTA reported.
According to the politician, the issues of citizenship in the republic “are always given attention”
“On the one hand, we are concerned about the security of our state. On the other hand, respectable and hardworking citizens are the most important wealth of our country,” he said.
At the same time, Lukashenka emphasized that “it is necessary to look again at those who, having gone abroad, acted at the expense of the state and people.”
“They are known, every one of them. We know them. Do these people deserve to remain citizens of Belarus if they fled from their own country and really cut ties with it? It was proposed to strip them of their citizenship. This is what we are talking about. Therefore, today we will consider this version of the bill,” said the expressive leader of Belarus.
In addition, he drew attention to the need to “discuss the requirements” for Belarusians who received a Pole’s card and other similar documents.
Earlier, Lukashenka announced a large-scale “perestroika” in civil society and party building.
