The decision made by the European Union on visa restrictions for citizens of the Russian Federation is correct, but its effectiveness depends on implementation.
The EU’s decision to suspend visa facilitation to Russia is largely in line with Ukraine’s wishes. This is what Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said at a briefing with his Danish counterpart Jeppe Kofod on Thursday, September 1, in Kyiv.

He said the restrictions apply not only to the suspension of the visa facilitation agreement.
“There are some other measures that allow me to say that if yesterday’s decision is implemented in good faith by all EU countries, then this decision will be as close as possible to what is wanted of Ukraine. But the devil is in the details,” said the minister.
Kuleba noted that the implementation details could harm the effectiveness of the EU decision.
The previous day, the European Union agreed to suspend the simplified procedure for issuing visas to Russian citizens, although it was proposed to introduce a complete ban on issuing visas.
