The President mentioned that Ukraine is doing everything to avoid an emergency scenario, but it does not depend only on it.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the crowd at the end of the 183rd day of the war. In a video message, the President touched upon the closure of the Zaporozhye NPP.
“Today, for the first time in history, the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant was shut down. The emergency protection of the power units worked after the last working line of the plant’s power output in the energy system of Ukraine was damaged as a result of the Russian . shelling,” the president said.
Zelensky noted that diesel generators immediately went to work to provide energy to the station itself.
“The world must understand what this threat is: if the diesel generators are not turned on, if the automation and our plant personnel do not work after the blackout, we will be forced to overcome the consequences of a radiation accident. Russia has put Ukraine and all Europeans on the brink of a radiation accident. disaster,” Zelensky said.
The President mentioned that Ukraine is doing everything to avoid an emergency scenario, but it does not depend only on it.
“We need such international pressure that will force the infidels to immediately leave the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. The IAEA and other international organizations must act faster than now. Every minute the Russian military is in the nuclear power plant, there is a risk of a global radiation disaster,” Zelensky stressed.
Recall that on August 25 Zaporizhzhya NPP for the first time in history was completely disconnected from the network. Lines of communication in the Ukrainian system were damaged as a result of the continuous shelling of the Russian Armed Forces.
The Zaporizhia Regional Civil-Military Administration has developed various scenarios for the evacuation of the population in the event of an accident at the Zaporozhye NPP.
