Putin promised to give Lukashenka the rank of colonel

Alexander Lukashenko’s current military rank is a reserve lieutenant colonel. Putin allegedly promised to “rise in rank” long ago.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has again promised to award Alexander Lukashenko the rank of colonel. During the briefing following the meeting, Lukashenka complained that Putin had promised this to him for a long time.

“It would be nice if I was a colonel too. The truth is he (Putin – ed.) Promised me, but it still doesn’t apply,” Lukashenka said.

His current military rank is reserve lieutenant colonel.

In response to Lukashenka’s statement, Putin said he did not need the head of another state to give him titles.

“If I promise, I will,” Putin added.

Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko met on April 12 in Blagoveshchensk, Russia. They discussed the course of the “special operation of the Russian Federation” in Ukraine. Lukashenka expressed support for the actions of the Russian Federation.
