American digital platforms have become “instruments of censorship in the interest of the Washington Regional Committee,” complained Maria Zakharova.
The administration of the American social network Twitter has been temporarily blocked Account of the Russian Foreign Ministry in English. This was announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on Telegram on Tuesday, August 9.
“On the evening of August 5, the administration of the Twitter platform blocked the official account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in English for seven days. The reason was the publication of excerpts from the briefing of the commander of the RCBZ troops of the RF Armed Forces , Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, about the biological activities of the United States military,” he wrote.
According to Zakharova, the social network reacted in this way to the post of the ministry with a quote from the Russian Ministry of Defense that the US Agency for International Development (USAID) may be allegedly involved in the emergence of a new coronavirus .
Zakharova doubted that Twitter was capable enough to discredit the conclusions of the Russian defense department, allegedly based “on working with documents and fresh data.”
“There is another clumsy attempt to close our mouths… Of course, it is possible to block us, but the truth will still be sought. These are the American digital platforms, which have become instruments of censorship in the interest of the ” Washington regional committee”, will definitely not be used to spread the facts, – he summed up.
Recall that last week Twitter blocked RIA Novosti accounts in all EU countries and the UK. The reasons for this decision were not reported.
