From the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Germany gave away all the weapons that were in the country, and now they switched to more modern and expensive systems.
Germany supplies Ukraine with the latest weapons. One that was not even in service with the Bundeswehr. This was said by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in an interview with the Globe and Mail, responding to the words that Germany has allegedly reduced military support for Ukraine, despite promises to the contrary.
“From the first days after the Russian attack on Ukraine, we have been supplying arms and ammunition to Ukraine. This is a complete departure from the steel policy of all German federal governments – a ban on exporting weapons to crisis zones. We delivered everything we had: anti-tank and anti-aircraft systems, mines, tons of ammunition and non-lethal aid. Since then we have moved to more complex and expensive systems. Self-propelled howitzers, multiple launch rocket systems, anti-aircraft systems, anti-battery radars. Some of these systems are so new that only a small number of them are produced, and some of them are not even a representative in the Bundeswehr,” Scholz said.
He also added that now in Germany the Ukrainian military is being trained in new and more sophisticated equipment.
“And we will continue to provide this support to Ukraine as long as it is needed,” the Chancellor said.
Remember, earlier it was known that the German multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) MARS II is already in Ukraine.
