The Iranian Atomic Energy Agency (AEAI) said on Monday that the Islamic Republic has the technical capability to produce Atomic bombbut is not going to do it.
AEAI head Mohamad Eslami said today that “as the head of the Council on Strategic Foreign Relations previously stated IranKamal Jarazi, Iran has the technical capacity to build Atomic bombbut such a program is not on the agenda,” local Iranian news agency FARS reported.
Eslami also denied “accusations from the West” and stated that these accusations come from the Organization that opposes the Islamic Republic of the Mujahideen Khalq and Israel.
Thanks to the nuclear agreement, files of all charges against Iran they were closed, but “at present, the western part, having left the agreement in order to return to it again, is making the same false accusations of the past,” Eslami said.
These accusations “come from the hypocrites (meaning the Mujahideen) and the Zionist regime (meaning Israel),” Eslami said, adding that they “have been making these false claims for about 20 years.”
Eslami explained that “this is unacceptable for Iran“That he was again pressured with the same accusations. For this reason, it was decided to turn off all the cameras so that the other side would understand that he should not make these false accusations anymore,” he said.
Similarly, he explained that “constructive engagement” between AEAI and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been established and “there have been no interruptions in this engagement”; “Because all the actions of Iran are carried out under the supervision of the IAEA on the basis of the Treaty on Non-Proliferation and Safeguards,” Eslami justified.
Iran it is already enriching uranium to 60% purity, well above the 3.67% allowed by the 2015 nuclear deal.
The 2015 nuclear pact, known as the JCPOA, limited Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions, but in 2018 then US President Donald Trump abandoned it and reintroduced restrictive measures against Iran.
Tehran responded a year later by ramping up its nuclear efforts and enriching uranium.
Iran Since last year, negotiations have been held with the five powers and indirectly with the United States to restore the atomic pact, but so far it has not been concluded.
So much Iran and the US emphasize that key issues that require the will and political decision of the other side remain to be resolved. EFE
