The discussion of any security guarantee without Russia’s participation is a “path to nowhere”, warned the foreign Minister of the Russian Federation.
In Moscow, the provision of security guarantees for Ukraine is said to be “support”. And states of guarantee can be regular members of the UN Security Council, including Russia and China. This was said by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday, August 20.
Russian propagandists asked him about security guarantees for Ukraine, discussed during submissions in Alaska and Washington.
“We are for these guarantees that are really reliable,” Lavrov said after negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jordan Aiman Al-Safada.
But immediately after that, he called the previous agreements “a good example”, which was said to have reached during the conversation between Russia and Ukraine in April 2022 in Istanbul.
Among the principles, allegedly reciting, Lavrov called “Ukraine’s refusal to join NATO or any other military blocs, confirmation of Ukraine’s neutral and nuclear status.”
According to him, security guarantees should be regular members of the UN Security Council, including Russia, China, USA, Great Britain and France.
At the same time, Lavrov is convinced that the discussion of any security guarantee without Russia’s participation is a “path to nowhere”. Therefore, Moscow could not have come up now it is now suggested to resolve collective security issues without Russia.
“The West and, above all, the United States perfectly understands that a serious discussion about security guarantees without the Russian Federation is a utopia, a way to go nowhere,” Russia’s minister said.
Remember, on August 16, the media reported that during the Summit in Alaska Trump and Putin allegedly agreed with security guarantees for Ukraine. They are “in the style of the fifth article” of the North Atlantic Treaty, but not within the NATO plot.
In the past, Trump had actually confirmed this media information. According to him, the USA, Europe and some other countries may guarantee Ukraine for security, but not in the NATO format.
And on August 19, the President of the Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the guarantee of security in Ukraine would actually be an active work in the coming days.
