The President proposed to the parliament to appoint the “public servant” Kostin as the new Prosecutor General. The committee is supportive.
The Parliamentary Committee on Legal Policy supported the candidacy of People’s Deputy Andrei Kostin for the position of Prosecutor General. This was announced on Wednesday, July 27, by People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak on Telegram.
“The Law Enforcement Committee of the Verkhovna Rada at its meeting supported the President’s decision and the granting of permission to appoint Kostin to the post of Prosecutor General of Ukraine,” the people’s representative wrote.
In turn, people’s deputy Oleksiy Goncharenko said that the committee could be headed by a people’s deputy from the group of Servant of the People Denis Maslov.
“Denis Maslov, deputy of the Servant of the People group, will be the new head of the legal policy committee,” he wrote in a telegram.
As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky registered in the Rada a draft resolution authorizing the appointment of Kostin as Prosecutor General.
Recall that on July 19, the Verkhovna Rada removed Irina Venediktova from the post of Prosecutor General. Two days before, Zelensky suspended him.
