The former head of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs Annalen Berobok was elected head of the UN General Assembly. Her candidacy was supported by 167 of 193 countries.
The position of the head of the UN General Assembly is considered ceremonial, and a secret vote on the approval of the BERB was considered a formality.
According to the German agency DPA, Russia insisted on his behavior. Berobok was the only candidate. The 80th session of the UN General Assembly will begin in September.
