The protégé of the Russian invaders, the so-called “leader” of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, reported that he sent the so-called “Crimean battalion” of 1,200 “volunteer” fighters to the war against Ukraine. This was reported by the Crimean Human Rights Group (CHG).
In early July, the occupying “leader” of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, signed a decree “On draft commissions for the mobilization of citizens” in Crimea.
Aksyonov stressed that the “Crimean battalion” includes representatives of the so-called “Cossacks”, and some “volunteers” came through “military registration and enlistment offices”.
“What the Crimeans can do in terms of supporting the armed forces, everyone is doing. No one needs to be convinced. We have a common opinion about supporting the president and the goals of conducting a special military operation. Some volunteers came directly through the military registration and enlistment office, equipped the Crimean battalion, helped with money and not only,” Aksyonov said.
Aksyonov described the main purpose of the military operations as “the protection of Russia’s national interests.”
