According to the head of the military department, Arvydas Anushauskas, the M113 is becoming an important part of the armed forces of Ukraine, and Lithuania is making a significant contribution to it.
“Currently, a request has been submitted (by Kyiv – ed.) for the training of military police, demining specialists. The Lithuanian army will also contribute to the large-scale training of the Ukrainian military in the UK through of sending instructors there,” Anusauskas said at a remote meeting of NATO coordinating support for the Ukraine group.
It was noted that Lithuania has transferred Stinger air defense systems, anti-tank weapons, body armor and helmets, 120-mm mortars, small arms, ammunition, thermal imagers, drones, anti-drones, surveillance radar, M113 armored personnel carriers, trucks, SUVs in Ukraine. In total, Lithuanian military aid is about 123 million euros.
The Lithuanian army is also considering sending up to 10 instructors to the UK, aiming to provide three weeks of basic military training for 10,000 Ukrainian troops over the next three months.
Earlier, Lithuania called for providing Ukraine with ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers. This weapon will help to radically change the situation on the battlefield.
Recall that the US State Department approved the sale of six MLRS HIMARS to Estonia. The delivery also includes several types of missiles, including the operational-tactical ATACMS.
