Central Reserve BankBCR) launched a new family of banknotes in July 2021 with new designs and symbols.
They have been in circulation since last year. new banknotes S / 10 and S / 100, whose figures are the composer Chabuca Granda and the engineer Pedro Paulet. But who is on the new S/20 and S/50 banknotes?
As reported by BCR, here are the numbers that will be presented in this new release:
- C/10: Chabuca granda, vicuña and amancaes flower
- S/20: José Maria Arguedas, Condor and Flor de la Cantuta
- S/ 50: Maria Rostworowski, jaguar and Puya Raimondi
- S/ 100: Pedro Paulet, shovel-tailed hummingbird and Phragmipedium kovachii orchid
- S/200: Tilsa Tsuchiya, rock cock and beautiful abankina flower
The Central Bank clarifies that the theme of the new banknotes is focused on the characters of the twentieth century, which had a significant impact on art, literature, history and science. In addition, biodiversity was taken into account, including the motives of our flora and fauna.
It should be noted that the previous banknoteswhich included José Abelardo Quiñones, Raul Porras Barrenechea, Abraham Valdelomar, Jorge Basadre and Santa Rosa de Lima, will continue to circulate as usual.

The S/50 banknote features Maria Rostworowski in a new design. who was a historian and explorer of the Andean world.
One of his most famous works Rostvorovsky this is the “History of Tahuantinsuyu”, which explains the rise and apogee of the state of the Incas.
As for the back of the new note, BCR clarifies that it features a jaguar and Puya Raimondi.
