The bodies of 757 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine.
It was possible to return the bodies of dead servicemen from Bakhmut, Ugledar, Lugansk, Donetsk and Zaporozhye directions and morgues on the territory of the aggressor country of Russia. The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported this on January 24 in Telegram.
Among the defenders returned to the shield:
- 451 from Donetsk direction;
- 71 from Bakhmut direction;
- 51 from the Ugledar direction;
- 13 from Lugansk direction;
- 137 from Zaporozhye direction.
34 dead were returned from morgues in Russia.
It is noted that the fallen defenders were returned as a result of the joint work of employees of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Central Directorate of Civil-Military Cooperation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the joint center of the SBU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Issues of Missing Persons missing under special circumstances, the State Emergency Service and other structures.
Let us recall that in early January, the head of the Secretariat of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, Bogdan Okhrimenko, said that the Russians submitted requests to Ukraine about more than 50 thousand missing captors.
