Rutte: Europe will pay for arms for Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that the United States should continue to provide weapons to Ukraine, while Europe is ready to pay the costs. He mentioned the importance of increasing defense production. This was reported by Reuters on Thursday, January 23.

The alliance should invest more in defense, increase defense industry production, and shoulder more of the cost of aid to Ukraine.

“Regarding Ukraine, it is imperative that US involvement continue. And if the new Trump administration comes out ready to continue providing Ukraine with its defense industrial base, then the Europeans are ready to pay the bill. convinced of it – there must be a willingness to do it,” he told Rutte.

In Davos, the NATO leader stressed that it is crucial that Russia does not win, as what Russian President Vladimir Putin has done could inspire the leaders of North Korea and China.

Earlier it became known that NATO assumes part of the responsibility for the coordination of military assistance to Ukraine, which was previously provided by the United States.
