Donald Trump, on his first day in office, ordered US government agencies to stop issuing citizenship documents to children born in the United States to parents without legal status.

Democratic states and cities in the United States intend to challenge in court President Donald Trump’s attempt to eliminate birthright citizenship for migrant children. CNN reported this on Tuesday, January 21.

The lawsuits claim the order violates the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution.

CNN reports that 18 states have filed similar lawsuits in federal court in Massachusetts.

“This means that any appeal of this court’s decision will be heard in the First US Circuit Court of Appeals, where all judges are appointed by Democrats.

Thus, the Democratic Attorney General of New Jersey, Matthew Platkin, who is one of the initiators of the lawsuit, pointed out that “the president has the right to present a political agenda that he considers necessary, but cannot destroy what has been the structure of nation for many years during the Civil War and was twice upheld by the Supreme Court.”

Reporters say the following states have joined the lawsuit: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island , Vermont and Wisconsin.

Donald Trump, on his first day as president, January 20, ordered US government agencies to stop issuing citizenship documents to children born in the United States to parents who do not have legal status.

The order, which applies to children born within 30 days of the act, applies in cases where the parents are in the US illegally and in situations where the mother is in the US temporarily, such as with a visa, and the father is a non-citizen. .

Some immigration hardliners argue that the children of undocumented immigrants are not subject to US jurisdiction and should not be considered citizens under the Constitution.

The United States has the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, ratified in 1868. It guarantees citizenship to everyone born in the United States.

Let’s remember that on January 20, Donald Trump took the oath of office in a ceremony in Washington. He has officially become the 47th President of the United States of America.
