The US President expressed optimism about the possibility of reaching agreements between Kyiv and Moscow.
US President Donald Trump’s administration is committed to achieving sustainable peace between Russia and Ukraine to prevent future escalation. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced this on Tuesday, January 21, in an interview with CBS Mornings.
“We don’t just want the conflict to end and start again in two, three or four years. We want to ensure stability,” the official said.
He emphasized that the United States is ready to make every effort to end the war.
“Russia started this conflict and now it has become a long, bloody and destructive one. It is causing huge losses to both Russia and Ukraine, but Ukraine is paying the biggest price, especially because of the destruction of its energy infrastructure. ,” added the United States Secretary of State.
Rubio also recalled the human cost, noting that the war has claimed many lives and forced millions of Ukrainians to flee their homes and seek refuge abroad.
“For the sake of all the victims, this conflict must end,” the politician concluded.
In the Pentagon, all employees responsible for cooperation with Ukraine were fired or transferred to other positions.
Earlier in the day, Trump said Zelensky was ready for a deal to end the war. And Russian dictator Vladimir Putin may be pushed into negotiations by economic difficulties in the Russian Federation.
