Israel announced the beginning of a truce in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli authorities announced a ceasefire after the Hamas terrorist group handed over a list of the first hostages to be released on January 19. The truce was supposed to take effect at 11:15, but was scheduled for 8:30. This was reported by The Time of Israel.
It is noted that the truce was initially postponed due to Hamas delaying the transfer of a list of names of three female hostages who should be released today.
Prior to the announcement of the truce, the Israel Defense Forces continued to strike Hamas terrorist targets in the Gaza Strip over the past two hours.
Let us recall that this week Israel and the terrorist group Hamas, with the participation of mediators, reached an agreement on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages.
Recently, the Israeli government finally approved an agreement with Hamas. As part of the agreement, the first hostages are due to be released today.
