Slovak representatives flew to Moscow to negotiate gas supplies and discuss the war in Ukraine.
Polish authorities did not allow a plane carrying a delegation of Slovak parliamentarians, flying to Moscow to negotiate gas, to fly into their airspace. TASR reported this on Sunday, January 12.
Because of this, the plane was forced to fly to Russia through the airspace of the Czech Republic and Germany.
“I don’t understand Poland’s position, but I see it as the truth,” said Deputy Speaker of the Slovak Parliament Andrei Danko, who was also on board.
It is expected that in Russia the Slovak delegation will meet with deputies of the State Duma and some members of the government. The agenda of the negotiations, according to the head of the delegation, should include, in particular, the issues of providing natural gas to Slovakia and the war in Ukraine.
Earlier, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico accused Kyiv of causing damage to Bratislava by stopping Russian gas transit.
However, the cessation of Russian gas transit through the Ukrainian gas transportation system does not affect either the energy security of European countries or consumer prices in the market, the European Commission said.
