Russian companies Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegaz have come under British sanctions. The restrictions will hit the income of the Russian Federation.
For the first time, the UK imposed sanctions against the Russian companies Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegaz. This was reported by the press service of the British government.
As the British government noted, Gazprom Neft and Surgutneftegaz produce more than 1 million barrels of oil daily, which amounts to about $23 billion per year. That’s more than the GDP of Jamaica.
“Oil revenues are the lifeblood of Putin’s war economy. We will not stand by and allow oil revenues to endanger the lives of Ukrainians, nor will we allow Russia to continue to fill the coffers while continuing to threaten our collective security.” Foreign Secretary David Lemmy.
He stressed that the fight against Russian oil companies will lead to the depletion of the Russian military budget and will help save the lives of Ukrainians.
We remind you that the US authorities have announced new large-scale sanctions against the Russian oil sector. The new restrictions cover more than 400 individuals and organizations in Russia’s energy sector that directly or indirectly fund the Kremlin’s war machine.
As reported, Russia reduced oil exports to a 16-month low – volumes decreased by 540 thousand barrels per day compared to the highest level in October.
