The Drone Coalition will transfer tens of thousands of drones to Ukraine.
The UK, together with its NATO allies, will transfer 30 thousand new UAVs to Ukraine as part of the drone coalition. The drones will be sent to Ukraine after an international coalition led by Britain and Latvia awarded contracts worth about $55.3 million. They will be financed by the governments of Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Latvia and Sweden. British Defense Minister John Gili and Latvian Defense Minister Andris Spruds announced this at a meeting in the Ramstein format on January 9.
As you know, the Drone Capability Coalition began working on February 17, 2024. The coalition was led by Latvia and Great Britain. Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Estonia, the Netherlands, Canada and Luxembourg also joined the coalition. The total fund of the drone coalition amounted to more than 85 million, and of this amount the British contributed $19 million.
Let us recall that in December last year, British Deputy Secretary of Defense Luke Pollard said that within the framework of the Ramstein format, the Ukrainian Defense Forces would begin to massively supply tens of thousands of various types of drones to Ukraine from January.
