Ukraine will receive from Germany additional interceptor missiles for IRIS-T air defense systems. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said this following the meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format on Thursday, January 9.

“Germany continues to provide reliable and significant support to Ukraine The previously announced six IRIS-T systems will be delivered by 2025. In addition, Germany will provide about 50 guided missiles for the IRIS-T systems ,” the German Ministry of Defense told Pistorius. as the saying goes.

Germany will also station two Patriot units and 200 soldiers in Poland for six months to protect a NATO logistics hub for Ukraine, he said.

In turn, Spiegel reported that Ukraine will receive 48 missiles for IRIS-T worth about 70 million euros. These missiles were originally intended for the Bundeswehr, but are now being redirected for the needs of our country.

It is known that an IRIS-T battery consists of three launchers, each capable of launching eight missiles. This means that 48 missiles will be enough for two full battery launches.

It was previously known that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky met with Pistorius during a meeting in Ramstein. They discussed further work within this format. Then the minister said that in the near future Germany will transfer additional missiles for the previously provided air defense systems.
